Scholarships and Financial Support

To encourage bright students with an interest in chemistry and chemical engineering to major in the paper science field, a merit scholarship program was established by the Pulp and Paper Foundation. The awards, which range in value from $2,800 to $10,000/year, are based on academic merit without regard to financial need. Major factors in the selection process are SAT (or ACT) scores, high school GPA, and rank. To have the scholarship renewed each year, the recipient must actively pursue the degree in Paper Science and maintain a minimum average GPA of 3.0. The recipient shall be eligible for a maximum of eight semesters of scholarships.  Scholarship Application

To further support students enrolled in the program, the paper and allied industry provides summer intern and semester long co-op professional jobs. Summer interns work on real world projects and earn $6,000 to $8,000 per summer. Co-op interns work on more in-depth projects for one or two semesters, and earn $10,000 or more each semester. Combinations of summer intern and co-op experiences are possible.

The Paper Science and Engineering Program at NC State University has established several competitive, full-ride scholarships for out-of-state applicants.
These scholarships pay all tuition, fees, room, and board expenses for recipients for a total of four years.
