“Wood to Energy III: From Forest to Fuel” will take place September 18, 2012 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm where participants will meet at the Kinston Extension Center. A charter bus will provide the transportation to a harvesting site, Morehead City Port, and Craven Wood Energy.
This final one-day tour in the Wood to Energy series provides an opportunity to learn about bioenergy supply chains in action. The tour begins with a visit to a managed forest where biomass is selected, harvested, and transported into the supply chain. An onsite discussion will provide insight into current biomass markets, landowner opportunities, and the current challenges that the industry faces. Next, a luncheon and a tour of the Morehead City Port are provided allowing participants to explore and discuss the emerging export markets for bioenergy and wood products. The final stop at Craven Wood Energy will demonstrate one model for power generation and how it fits into the supply chain cycle.
