Chris Ketchie
Chris started working on the wildfire project in Fall 2007 and made field visits to multiple sites in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and California during his two years as a Research Assistant. He conducted and assisted with wildfire manager and community group interviews, in addition to logistical support, data collection, and transcription. Chris has a BA in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Master’s in Forestry and Environmental Resources from North Carolina State University, with a concentration in Geographic Information Science. His Master’s research combined land use and ecological indicators to create a GIS model for assessing fire risk in the Wildland Urban Interface, and offered management recommendations for restoring fire-adapted forested ecosystems in the North Carolina Sandhills region. Chris currently works as a Policy Analyst and Community Organizer for the Southern Coalition for Social Justice in Durham, NC. He is also a founding partner of the political consulting firm DemoGeoGraphics, which provides services to local governing bodies and their elected representatives.
