March – Free Workshops on Voluntary Agricultural Districts, Farmland Protection Planning, and Program Incentives

Please mark your calendars for two free workshops in March 2012 on Voluntary Agricultural District (VAD) and Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural District (EVAD) Programs and Farmland Protection Planning for Counties and Municipalities:

  • March 14th, Wednesday – Wilson, Wilson County Center, 8:30am to 2:30pm
  • March 23rd, Friday – Carthage, Moore County Center, 8:30am to 2:30 pm

Topics to be covered will include:

  • State and federal program incentives for participation
  • Farmland protection plan development
  • VAD advisory boards
  • Program signage on right-of-ways and private property
  • Farmland impact assessment for transportation planning
  • Legislative update on laws impacting voluntary agricultural district programs
  • Estate tax changes overview
  • Other topics…

These workshops are for board members, program staff, planners, farmers, and citizens from counties and municipalities with VAD and EVAD programs — and those considering adoption of a VAD or EVAD program ordinance.

There is no fee for this workshop other than a voluntary lunch donation for the March 23rd workshop.
