Description


The Conservation Coordinator works in the chapter’s main office and provides administrative and other general assistance to program staff working toward the achievement of protection, conservation, or stewardship goals.
Facilitate communication within the Conservation Programs team, with other departments, and with outside contacts. Disseminate departmental information.
Provide general support for Conservation Programs staff, including: organizing meetings, making travel arrangements, processing invoices from contractors for payment, ordering materials and equipment, preparing reports and presentations, filing, photocopying, faxing, mailings, managing vehicles, and handling general errands
Provide occasional administrative support to the chapter’s State Director.
Share responsibility for answering office’s main phone line. Respond to general phone calls, especially inquiries from potential land donors. Draft routine business correspondence.
Manage and maintain the chapter’s Conservation Programs files, keeping the files up to date, organized, and accurate. Manage the chapter’s central library of site files, preserve designs, and journals.
Support management of Nature Conservancy preserves by
handling property taxes, including paying and filing for tax exempt status;
preparing and processing hunting leases and correspondence with lessees;
coordinating with satellite offices regarding the monitoring of conservation easements and maintaining required documentation, and
handling all aspects of vehicle ownership including DMV requirements and maintaining vehicle insurance
Supervises no staff but may oversee and direct work of office volunteers or interns


Qualifications:



Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point)
Experience coordinating multiple projects.
Experience handling business communications



Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Work experience, volunteer activities, training, or coursework related to conservation, ecology, or other environmental sciences.
Demonstrated strong administrative skills including attention to detail, ability to plan and organize, and experience coordinating and communicating with others
Experience organizing or coordinating meetings or events.
Ability to complete tasks independently within assigned time frames
Ability to manage multiple priorities from a number of sources
Ability to coordinate project information from a number of sources to populate databases, create reports, and produce manual files.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Experience utilizing databases for data entry and report production. Experience with or ability to learn Adobe Photoshop, social media, and website design/management.
