Graduate students can pursue advance study in a number of specialty areas related to forestry, natural resources or fisheries and wildlife science.
FER also allows undergraduates to combine an FER program with one available in another college for a double major, or to obtain a minor in many FER areas.
Most of our academic programs are interdisciplinary and touch on aspects of all of our interest areas, including:
- Conservation and Restoration,
- Environmental Impact Assessment,
- Environmental Technology and Management,
- Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology,
- Forest Ecology and Management,
- Forest Genetics and Biotechnology,
- Geographic Information Science,
- Natural Resources Economics and Policy,
- Natural Resources Management and
- Watershed Hydrology.
Additional courses often draw from the expertise of other colleges to give FER students a grounding in related business, economic and biological topics.
FER's teaching philosophy incorporates classroom instruction with practical work: all FER students work in the field and in laboratories on real-life projects as part of their academic experience.
FER also offers on-going programs and seminars for industry professionals, landowners and the general public through our Extension & Outreach initiatives.
