Assistant Park Ranger

Description
This is a park ranger in training position. The employee will work hands on with a full time park ranger learning the necessary skills needed to possibly move on to a full time ranger position in the future.
This is a temporary position. The employee will work 40 hours per week for up to 50 weeks per year. Employees work a rotating schedule with shifts that range from 5:30am to 10:30pm. This will include working weekends, holidays, and can include being on call throughout the night.
Barracks style housing is available
Assists with the operation, administration and maintenance of Myrtle Beach State Park. Assists with park administrative duties; collects and accounts for revenue; instructs, supervises and performs routine and preventative maintenance. Performs law enforcement activities within specified authority and Park Service policy. Assists in control of inventories.
Additional Qualifications:
Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents and other materials used in maintaining park facilities and grounds. Valid driver’s license required
