Description
Job Synopsis: The Biofuels business is seeking to appoint an agricultural engineer with expertise in mechanical engineering as it related to agricultural equipment.

This role will be responsible for assessing agricultural equipment needs for our large biomass farms and working with equipment manufacturers to design or customize equipment accordingly.

The role will serve as the primary interface between the Biofuels business and third-party agricultural equipment manufacturers.

The role will also lead the implementation of equipment-related process improvements in agriculture.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a successful track record in the field of mechanical engineering for agricultural equipment.

Certification in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, or equivalent process improvement training is required.

Work Location: Houston, TX
Relocation available: Yes Domestic Only
Travel Required (%): Up to 25%

Reporting Relationships: The role will report to the Sr. Agricultural Mechanical Engineer.

Key Accountabilities: Agricultural equipment assessment for fit-for-purpose operation.

Serving as interface with equipment manufacturers and the Biofuels business.

Driving equipment design and customization to meet business needs.

Leading continuous improvement efforts in agricultural processes (for example, automation of process steps; use of precision farming; and design and implementation of harvest and transport equipment).

Collaborate with Procurement and HSSE to provide assurances that equipment meets safety standards and that vendors are properly vetted.

Working with Ag Economist/Analyst and the Crop Specialist to identify process improvement opportunities.

Working with key equipment partners educate GSAs, LTSCs and others in the proper safe operation of equipment while optimizing performance.

Adherence to internal and external environmental, ethical and safety standards

Essential Criteria: Mechanical engineering experience in agricultural equipment,
Certification in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, or equivalent process improvement training.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence various internal and external stakeholders.

Track record in dealing successfully with 3rd parties.

Strong communication skills and the ability to translate agriculture and engineering concepts into business/commercial language.

Experience in prioritizing at times conflicting demands.

Basic business acumen and track record of delivering challenging objectives.
Demonstrated ability to lead process improvement projects.

Track record of knowledge sharing and training others to adopt best practices.

Ability to work in an ambiguous environment and with limited supervision.

Design of sugarcane or forage equipment.

Experience in change management.

Experience with large scale corporate farming, logistics and equipment maintenance planning is highly desirable.

Education/Certifications: Bachelors degree in Engineering is required, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Certification in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, or equivalent process improvement training is required.
