Curriculum Development Specialist

Description
This position will provide subject matter expertise, technical support, program review and leadership for the development of curricula, training or technical sales materials and standards. In response to changes in regulations or industry standards, and in response to emerging standards, the role will be responsible for identification of program learning outcomes, development of a topical outline, determination of learning resources, development of assessment instruments, technical sales support and standards as needed. Will utilize data collected from students, faculty, certification bodies, industry and other stakeholders to adjust curriculum and materials to improve marketability and to ensure that students are developing the knowledge and skills needed to successfully pass certification exams and/or to demonstrate knowledge and technical competency in a field of expertise. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of this role to develop instructional content and to provide appropriate learning resources and technical materials to help drive sales and that are aligned with regulatory and industry standards and that prepare students to pass certification examinations and to demonstrate quality, safety, compliance and expertise in the field.

•Maintain subject matter expertise through practice, education, instruction, engaging stakeholders, participation in industry events and tracking of federal, state, local, industry and organizational legislative, regulatory and standards developments.
•Identify potential members for the advisory boards and participate in board meetings that support the development and revision of educational programs and services.
•Conduct and analyze market research to inform program identification, development, implementation, and revision.
•Develop and maintain relationships with standards organizations and regulatory agencies.
•Monitor changes in the industry and regulatory environment that impact the need for new program development as well as the revision of existing programs.
•Identify Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for the purpose of content development.
•Engage SMEs to identify and develop learning objectives, content, notes, assessments and course materials for each course.
•Identify learning resources to support the instructional delivery of each course.
•Develop assessment instruments to align with the learning objectives of each course.
•Engage with CEC Course Development to create online course content.
•Ensure that curriculum development responds to changes in regulations and industry standards as well as feedback from certification bodies, corporate partners, instructors and students.
•Collaborate with the Instructional Technology Specialist on the posting of content to the LMS.
•Work with the Curriculum Development Coordinator on the development of supplementary course materials as well as the printing and shipping of those materials.
•Lead the program review and revision process, using enrollment statistics, student satisfaction feedback, student outcomes data such as certification pass rates and input from advisory boards to drive decision-making
•Serve as project manager for curriculum development
•Participate in train the trainer sessions as needed
•Instruct, conduct webinars, and orient customers, staff and trainers as needed.
•Conduct quality assurance reviews as needed.
•Assist the marketing team in the development of web content, marketing materials and course structure
•Assist the sales team with technical writing and support for proposals, bids, grants, workscope development, quality management plans, and standards.
•Serve as project manager for contract execution as needed.
Qualifications
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Word, Excel and advanced PowerPoint skills
•Subject matter and/or technical expertise
•Project management skills that ensure that deliverables from Subject Matter Experts are produced in accordance with the defined timetable and in a matter that meets defined expectations
•Ability to research regulatory and industry standards and to translate standards into course learning outcomes
•Skill in constructing course content that facilitates student development of knowledge, skills and competencies defined by the course learning objectives
•Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development that creates a quality, learner-centered educational experience
•Ability to develop assessment instruments that measure student achievement of learning objectives
•Decisiveness, flexibility, and an ability to adapt to an environment of intense growth and change
•Instructional experience in higher education and/or technical training
•Customer service, instruction, and public speaking skills

Required Experience
•Bachelor’s Degree and/or advanced technical certificate(s) in instructional design, adult learning or technical program related to the content area required
•Master's Degree preferred
•At least 5 years of relevant experience
•One or more certifications or designations in LEED, BPI, RESNET, NABCEP, Sustainability and/or other sustainability relevant certifications.
