Our Gates County Forest is located in northeastern North Carolina on the west side of the Great Dismal Swamp — one of the largest nature preserves in the country. Bear, deer, turkey, wild game and fowl flourish within its acres. On the south side of this 3,800 acre tract, the Chowan River flows, supporting a rich network of creeks, swamps and ecosystems.
