Dr. Mark Megalos is one of three new Outreach Associates in the College of Natural Resources whose directive is to "grow jobs and communities through enhanced management and utilization of North Carolina's natural resources.”
Mark has been busy directing the Green Infrastructure outreach effort of FER's extension group. In his first six months, he reached more than 1,500 landowners and professionals with information on forest management, alternative enterprises and conservation.
As part of a multi-agency team, Mark conducted minority landowner summer outreach workshops in basic forest management, best management practices, estate planning and cost-share programs.
Through hard work and the development of innovative forest ecology and management programs, our Extension and Outreach programs provide valuable services to the people of North Carolina and often garner awards for their excellence.
This esteemed award is given to only one institution in the nation each year to recognize excellence in education and outreach to family forest landowners.
The award citation highlighted NC State's support of new personnel, the variety of short courses offered and our innovative delivery methods.
