The world is changing rapidly as advancements in technology and telecommunications increase the interconnectivity of our lives. These trends are evident in the interactions between social, economic and natural systems. The advent of emerging technologies presents new challenges for the future and increases the importance of incorporating sustainability into the decision making process. At NC State, we are dedicated to advancing the technological sophistication necessary to meet these new challenges.

To advance our objective of promoting student involvement in international resource issues we have become more globally active over the years. In fact, we believe that engaging the world in our teaching, research and outreach activities is critical to achieving our mission. Students gain new and valuable perspective from experiences with their peers in other places and by exploring natural resource issues around the world. To this end, we sponsor annual courses abroad and have developed formal exchange agreements with organizations in Sweden, Chile, and Brazil. Our faculty and graduate students also maintain ties with colleagues from universities in other countries and work together with researchers across the globe developing and implementing innovative solutions to a host of natural resources problems.

This section describes FER's international activities and introduces some of the people helping lead them. See the links at the left for information you can find in this section.
