The College of Natural Resources welcomes prospective students and their families to learn more about our programs. From paper science engineering to sport management to forestry, our college attracts a diverse group of students with a wide range of interests. Below are some reasons why we think our college is a special place.

Want to Make a Difference?

Whether you want to work outdoors as a wildlife biologist, develop recreation programs for underprivileged children through a non-profit organization, or work with third-world countries making paper using native renewable resources, our graduates make an impact on the world in a meaningful way.

Are You Looking for a Home Away from Home?

With just over 1400 students, our college is one of the smallest at NCSU, allowing us to give our students personalized attention with the resources of a larger university. Back to school retreats, summer camps, student involvement, and community service projects provide numerous ways for you to become a part of our family.

Want to know your faculty and staff?

Our students will tell you they love the close, personalized attention they receive. Our faculty and staff understand the transition to college can be overwhelming and we strive to help our students be successful through personalized advising and individualized instruction.

Want to see the world?

Whether you want to study the native animals of Namibia or the forests of Sweden, CNR offers our students the opportunity to study the environment, diverse societies, and engineering of sustainable resources around the world. We are committed to introducing our students to the world around them, which is important in a global economy.

How about Raleigh?

Our college is unique because we are a natural resources program located in a major city providing students the best of both worlds. With the Schenck Forest located only 10 minutes from campus and the Hill Forest located only 45 minutes away, our students have easy access to outdoor learning labs. At the same time, we are centrally located in Raleigh, NC, one of the top 10 best places to live in 2010!

Looking for an affordable option?

NCSU consistently ranks as one of the country’s best values in education. Programs such as The Pack Promise make college a reality for all students regardless of income. Within CNR, we give over $700,000 annually to our students through academic and working  scholarships.
