Undergraduate Research is an important part of a student’s academic career. Potential employers and graduate schools want to see that a student has work experience and knowledge of their major field of study. Undergraduate research teaches you time management, project management, critical thinking, and presentation skills. It also allows you to foster a relationship with a faculty mentor, which can be extremely useful when looking for a letter of recommendation!
Interested students should contact their departmental coordinator or academic advisor to create an action plan for finding a undergraduate research project. Some other valuable resources on getting started can be found at:
- The University Honors Program
- NCSU Undergraduate Research
- College of Natural Resources Undergraduate Research Grants
