METHODS OF GENERATING UNITS
The GRC requires completion of a minimum of 3 units in each of the 4
program areas and a total of 16 units. Units will be recorded only
as whole units. Units will not be given for duplicate activities.
1 formal course = 8 units (2 units will be allocated to each
program unit)
Seminar sponsored by GRC = 1 unit
8-hour formal workshop sponsored by GRC = 2 units
4-hour formal workshop sponsored by GRC = 1 unit
Other seminars, workshops and courses not sponsored by GRC must be
approved by the students graduate administrator or GRC committee
(units may vary)
20 hours of supervised work on research activity pre-approved by
graduate administrator or GRC committee = 1 unit
Poster presentation of research at a national or regional
professional conference which has been pre-approved by the graduate
administrator or GRC committee = 1 unit
Presentation of research at a national or regional professional
conference which has been pre-approved by the graduate administrator
or GRC committee = 2 units
Acceptance of research article as first or second author in a
journal which has been approved by the graduate administrator or GRC
committee = 2 units
Any past research activity completed while enrolled in NCSU graduate
program will be reviewed by graduate administrator or GRC committee
and units will be given on a consistent basis. |
