Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) University of Waterloo.  Major: Recreation and Leisure Studies.  Minor:  Business Administration. 1984.

 

Master of Science (M.S.)  Indiana University.  Major: Recreation and Park Administration. 1985.  Thesis: Attitudes of municipal park and recreation personnel toward computers

 

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Indiana University.  Major: Human Performance.  Minor: Educational Inquiry Methodology.  1988.  Dissertation:

 

Specialty/Current Research Interests:

Teaching emphasis in sport management. His research interests focus on the youth sport experience and its correlates.   Examples of current and ongoing research include:

  • the role that parents play in facilitating the affective reactions of youth sport participants;
  • an examination of the factors that contribute to highly committed parental behaviors in youth sports;
  • the efficacy of school based intramural sports programs in promoting physical activity among children and the predictive relationship between school sports (intramural vs. interscholastic) and long term sport participation;
  • student perceptions and use of new technologies in online education
