Specialty/Current Research Interests:
Current research addresses the issues of sustainable visitor use in protected areas grounded in the emerging field of recreation ecology, with a primary focus on monitoring and management of visitor-associated impacts on park resources. Other interests include international protected areas, visitor education such as Leave No Trace program, and applications of geospatial technologies.
Current research projects support the implementation of U.S. National Park Service's Visitor Experience & Resource Protection Framework and Vital Signs Natural Resource Monitoring Program
Engaged in international collaboration with colleagues from Australia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Canada.
