Wellman To Retire June 30, 2008 Dr. Doug Wellman, Department Head of Parks, Recreation & Tourism Management in the College of Natural Resources, will retire effective June 30, 2008. Doug was honored with a reception May 12th by many friends, faculty, staff, and alumni who expressed their gratitude for many years of service to the department, the college and the university. “We are very grateful for Doug Wellman’s legacy here in the College of Natural Resources — both as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and then as Head of our Park, Recreation and Tourism Management Department,” said Dean Robert Brown, “Doug facilitated the expansion of the department on many fronts, and enhanced the reputation of the department both regionally and nationally.” Dr. Wellman was also the founder of the NC State Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning. He and his wife, Janet, plan to move to the “one stoplight town” of Lovington, VA, to their cabin in the woods, near the river. CNR will welcome Dr Dorothy Anderson as the new department head in October. Dr Candace Vick-Goode will serve as interim department head. |
