PRTM home : Research : Community Recreation

 

PRTM’s research into community recreation focuses on measuring the role of public recreation agency services when it comes to improving people’s health and wellness or the quality of their lives. PRTM’s research also contributes to a greater understanding of community recreation’s impact and benefits. Recent projects focus on:

  • The health and social benefits of participation in Senior Games.
  • Positive youth development through organized youth camps.
  • The role of parks and recreation agencies in encouraging physical activity.
  • Perceptions of meaningful and enjoyable leisure.
  • The North Carolina Citizen Soldier Support Program
  • IPARC (Investigating Places for Active Recreation in Communities)
