NC State’s Department of Wood & Paper Science sponsors paper science outreach activities that educate people of all ages and support communities throughout the state. Some of these programs include:

• Day Field Trips to NC State’s Paper Science & Engineering facilities for students in grades K-12. Please email Carrie Hanayik or call her at 919. 515-7709 for more information.
  
  
• School and class visits from our extension specialists and faculty members centered around paper science presentations that educate students about the pulp and paper industry and the career opportunities open to them in it. • Our extensive on-line presentation and lecture library provides downloadable modules on a huge variety of topics, ranging from A Week in the Life of a Scientist to Fundamentals of Flotation, Material Balances, Pulping Operations, Recycling & Environmental Issues, Dioxin and the Paper Industry and many other topics.
  
  
• Our on-line lab manuals offer teachers and students instruction in a variety of fun and educational experiments such as designing a container to protect an egg from dropped from a height of three stories to papermaking, simplified bleaching procedures, evaluating the contaminant level in paper samples and much more.
