In general, WPS graduate program admission requirements include a prior degree in paper or wood science, chemical engineering, chemistry or any other related engineering or science program, a
GPA of 3.0 or higher and all applicants (except Distance Masters candidates) must take the Graduate Records Examination (GTE) and achieve a minimum score of 550 written or 213 computer. International students must also take the TOEFL® (Test of English as a Foreign Language™) if they do not hold a prior degree from a United States university.
How To Apply
Although admission is decided by the department, all graduate school applications to NC State’s Department of Wood & Paper Science graduate program must be made through the NC State Graduate School. The Grad School admissions website can provide you with on-line application options, financial information and other details on how to apply.
You may also email WPS for an application package or apply to the Graduate School online. A $65 application fee is required for US Citizens and Permanent Residents (Green Card holders) and $75.00US for Non-Resident Aliens (Internationals) processing as well a statement regarding your career objectives.
Please note that special International Student Application procedures apply to students who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
Application Deadlines
Although students are admitted for the fall or spring semester, the department encourages fall admissions.
