May is Mental Health Awareness Month – Enter Our Challenge
- This event has passed.
To recognize this month, we are offering a May Challenge: do things to promote mental health or well-being. Each week, we are selecting two winners, each of whom will receive a gift of appreciation for taking the time to promote positive mental health. This challenge runs through May 29. All students, staff and faculty from the College of Natural Resources can participate.
Fill out our form and describe what you have done to promote mental health. Please note: We will not share your name with others; information is solely for the weekly drawing.
Information about Mental Health Month:
According to Mental Health America, while one in five people will experience a mental illness during their lifetime, all of us face challenges that can impact our mental health. Mental health includes your emotional, psychological and social well-being and can affect your feelings, thoughts, actions, stress management, relationships and decision making. From childhood to adulthood, understanding and having awareness around your mental health is important.
Mental wellness is defined as “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.” This month is an excellent opportunity to take time to pause, take notice and find ways to maintain positive mental health.
