Special Guest Lecture with Dr. Lisa A. Levin,

Distinguished Professor, Center for Marine Biodiversity and Conservation and Integrative Oceanography Division, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California, San Diego

Dr. Lisa Levin

Dr. Levin will discuss how our rapidly changing technology has advanced understanding of deep-sea biodiversity and revealed unexpected climate impacts, but also enabled growing interest in extraction of fish, energy and mineral resources from the deep ocean. Her lecture will propose a new role for science and scientists in addressing the challenges of deep-ocean sustainability and biodiversity conservation in the 21st Century.

This event is sponsored by the College of Natural Resources, the College of Sciences and the North Carolina Sea Grant.

The event will begin with a reception at 3:00pm, followed by the seminar at 3:30pm
