Event Navigation

The Bladen Lakes areas of North Carolina are particularly favorable for the cultivation of longleaf pine (Pinus palustris). Known as the “Carolina Flatwoods” region of the state, the climate, hydrogology, soil, and fire history in this region provide the most favorable location for naturally occurring and planted longleaf pine. This workshop will update attendees on the latest information available on growing, restoring, and marketing longleaf pine. Expert speakers from the regional make presentations during the morning. An optional field tour has been lined up for the afternoon which will provide “real world” examples of longleaf cultivation, marketing and harvest/regeneration methods.
