Prestigious Award

Rising junior Alex May has been selected by TAPPI (The Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industries) to receive its most prestigious scholarship, the William L Cullison Award. The award is open to all pulp and paper schools globally and is given to the student that has shown outstanding commitment to academics and leadership within the pulp and paper field.

Alex May for postAcademic Excellence

During his time at NC State, Alex has become actively involved in the leadership of the NC State TAPPI student chapter last year serving as the TAPPI Activities chair, and currently serving as TAPPI treasurer. Alex has continued to maintain a perfect academic record while at State, and outside of school has participated in several professional internships. Alex has worked as a process engineering intern in WestRock’s Hopewell, Virginia mill and as a process engineering co-op with Packaging Corporation of America’s Valdosta, Georgia mill.

Remarkable Honor

Alex is honored to receive the William L Cullison Scholarship, and would like to thank the benefactors for their generous investment in the future of our industry and TAPPI for the opportunity to receive this award. This is the second year in a row that a NC State student has won this award.  Way to go Alex!
