The Transatlantic Paper Science and Engineering Undergraduate Dual Degree Program (TAPS), is an integrated undergraduate student exchange program created by a consortium of respected and prominent paper science and engineering institutions in the United States, Germany and Finland, under the leadership of the US Department of Education and the European Union (the ATLANTIS program). The TAPS program is an innovative and student-centered project that builds on the international trend to engage more students in international and bilingual education opportunities. The TAPS program provides, US, German and Finnish students with two internationally recognized BS degrees and international work experience to help launch their professional careers.

Requirements and Program Information for NC State Students:

  • Program Length: 1 year exchange
  • Fall Semester: TAMK or JAMK in Finland
  • Spring Semester: UASM in Germany
  • Language Requirement: No prior study of Finnish or German required
  • Courses taught in English
  • GPA Requirement: 2.75
  • Class Standing: Junior
  • Application Deadline: February prior to departure

Requirements and Program Information for International Students:

  • Program Length: 1 year exchange
  • Full academic year at NC State University (mid August through early May)
  • Students are required to apply for transfer admission to NC State University
  • Application Deadline: February 1
  • Nomination Requirement: application must be supported by the university
