Why did you choose  Paper Science and Engineering (PSE)?

  • The passion each professor has! And the sustainability and environmental approach of paper products.

What is your favorite thing about Paper Science and Engineering?

  • My favorite thing is either the professors, or the community of the College of Natural Resources.

What is your favorite thing about NC State?

  • The location and the size. It’s nice to walk around campus and see 100+ people you’ve never seen before ever day!

What advice would you offer to an incoming freshman?

  • Don’t be afraid to be the first person to say hi, everyone is just as nervous about being here as you are! Also, talk to your professors after class, they are usually really kind and cool and help you make great connections for the future.

What would people be surprised to know about you?

  • I’m passionate about history! Specifically American history between the 1600’s-1790’s. I think the founding of our country and learning about it’s roots is so interesting (plus I think witches are cool so I’m all about Salem mid 1600’s).

Who has been your favorite staff and/or faculty member?

  • My favorite professor would have to be Dr. Byrd. Dr. Byrd was the reason I joined PSE. After watching him give the presentation on the major I was memorized by his pure love for the degree. I knew that I wanted to feel that way about what I choose to dedicate my career to, and I knew paper could be it for me!
