Our departmental scholarships operate independently from the university-wide merit scholarship program, the college-wide program and the various federal, state and private programs.<br><br><strong>Our considerable endowment enables us to award a large number of scholarships <\/strong>to incoming freshmen, transfer students and upperclassmen. Currently, more than 130 individual endowed scholarships are available to Paper Science and Engineering students, with <strong>half of all our students receiving funding from these merit-based awards, averaging $13,000.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recipients must be enrolled in NC State\u2019s Paper Science and Engineering program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recipients must take the courses listed on the semester by semester plan for <a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.ncsu.edu\/undergraduate\/natural-resources\/forest-biomaterials\/paper-science-engineering-bs\/#semestersequencetext\">Paper Science and Engineering<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.ncsu.edu\/undergraduate\/natural-resources\/forest-biomaterials\/paper-science-engineering-bs-dual-major\/#semestersequencetext\">Paper Science and Engineering dual degree with Chemical Engineering<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recipients must maintain a total cumulative grade point average (TGPA) of 3.000 or higher. If the student\u2019s TGPA falls below a 3.000, the student will be placed on probation for one semester. If the student fails to bring his or her TGPA back up to 3.000 or higher during the following semester, the scholarship will be withdrawn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Apply<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Apply to NC State\u2019s College of Engineering by the first deadline, <strong>November 1<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you are admitted to NC State, complete the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ncsu.academicworks.com\/\">Pack Assist Scholarship Application<\/a>&nbsp;and the College of Engineering AND the Paper Science and Engineering Supplemental Questions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We invite chemical and undeclared intended incoming freshmen to apply for our scholarship as they continue to learn more about our program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If Paper Science and Engineering is not already listed as your intended major, you must change your Engineering First Year Intent to Paper Science and Engineering (PSE) or Paper Science and Engineering\/Chemical Engineering Dual intent <strong>before April 25<\/strong> by emailing <a href=\"mailto:karicht2@ncsu.edu\">Kayli Watkins<\/a>&nbsp;in our admissions office and copying <a href=\"mailto:angie_rush@ncsu.edu\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"Angie_Rush@NCSU.edu\">Angela Rush<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Important Notes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The priority deadline for Pack Assist is February 15. We review all applications submitted by February 21. We strongly encourage students to submit their application by the priority deadline so they will be considered for multiple campus and college awards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Out-of-state students applying for the Paper Super Scholars must attend an onsite interview and as part of the selection process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All award decisions are made in early March.
