{"id":13020,"date":"2018-05-10T10:21:31","date_gmt":"2018-05-10T14:21:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cnr.ncsu.edu\/fb\/?page_id=13020"},"modified":"2025-06-03T13:39:50","modified_gmt":"2025-06-03T17:39:50","slug":"abet-accreditation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cnr.ncsu.edu\/fb\/undergraduate\/abet-accreditation\/","title":{"rendered":"ABET Accreditation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Paper Science and Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abet.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.abet.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Educational Objectives and Student Outcomes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Within a few years after graduation, alumni of the Paper Science and Engineering Program at NC State University will be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Effective engineers and leaders in the paper, chemical process and related industries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Professionals who act in a safe and ethical manner.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learners who acquire, analyze, and apply new knowledge effectively.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To achieve these objectives, students are expected to meet the following learning outcomes during the course of the curriculum:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1.&nbsp; An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2.&nbsp; An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, societal, environmental, and economic factors<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3.&nbsp; An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4. An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5.&nbsp; An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">6.&nbsp; An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">7.&nbsp; An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Paper Science and Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET,&nbsp;https:\/\/www.abet.org.
