2019 Frederick and Joan Barkalow Distinguished Conservationist Lecture
The College of Natural Resources invites you to join us at the 2019 Frederick and Joan Barkalow Distinguished Conservationist Lecture, where we are pleased to welcome Dr. Larissa Bailey, Associate Professor at Colorado State University.
Dr. Larissa Bailey is a Colorado native and enjoyed summers catching frogs and fish on her grandparents’ family farms. She received her undergraduate degrees from Mesa State College (B.S. Biology, B.A. History), a Division II school where she also played varsity basketball. She served as the Coordinator for Mesa State’s Academic Advising program for two years before returning to graduate school at North Carolina State University. She earned a Masters in Biomathematics and PhD in Zoology at NCSU and then worked at USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center for 7 years, first as a post-doc and then as the Coordinator of the Northeast Amphibian Research and Monitoring Initiative (NE ARMI). In 2009, she returned to academia as a faculty member at Colorado State University’s Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology. As a quantitative ecologist, her research applies to a wide variety of taxa, and generally focuses on ways of measuring and monitoring biological systems to increase our scientific understanding and improve conservation decisions.
