We are pleased to announce that the Society of American Foresters (SAF) has granted re-accreditation supporting the educational program in Forest Management leading to the professional degree of Bachelor of Science. The Council for Higher Education Accreditation recognizes SAF as the specialized accrediting body for forestry and natural resources education in the United States and Canada.
Also this year, 2015, the Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources received SAF initial accreditation of the education program in Natural Resources leading to the professional degree of Bachelor of Science and the professional degree of Master of Forestry.
The accreditation process occurs every 10 years and follows strict guidelines to meet standards. So many people helped support the process and we thank them all. Alumni and students participated in several sessions with the accreditation team. The College of Natural Resources, all Department or Forestry and Environmental Resources faculty and staff support the process which takes months to complete.
