NCSU alumni, students, and faculty as well as local wildlife professionals, family, and friends gathered for the 6th Annual Wild Foods Supper on March 24 at the Cary VFW.Dinner fare included dove poppers, bear meatballs, beaver barbacoa tacos, fried crappie, and grilled bobcat. The Kudzu Ramblers flooded the venue with dance-inducing bluegrass music throughout the evening, and the pot luck style dinner encouraged socializing over heaping plates of delicious home cooked food.Grilled venison backstrap and mint truffles were among the winners of the cooking contest. Live and silent auctions included sought-after items such as trail cameras, guided turkey hunts, and student work crews. Students sold raffle tickets leading up to and during the dinner, and the grand prizes – a Yeti cooler and a lifetime hunting or fishing license – were awarded at the end of the night. The event was made possible by the hard work of the students in the Leopold Wildlife Club and their friends and families. The event raised funds to support student activities in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology at NC State. We appreciate all who came out to enjoy the food, fun, and fellowship. We hope to see everyone again next year!
