Degree Programs

Students in the Forestry and Environmental Resources Department are passionate about the environment we live in and the sustainable use of resources, whether that’s land, water, wildlife or trees. Our students make a difference in the world, starting with their very first days at NC State, and go on to become the go-to leaders for natural resource solutions after graduation.

Our graduates leave with an understanding of the interplay between science, people and business when it comes to the prudent use of our planet’s resources. Graduates enjoy successful careers as forest managers, environmental educators, land conservation specialists, sustainability consultants, wildlife biologist, environmental health and safety officers, restoration ecologists and many more.

We’re a close-knit community, where students benefit from smaller class sizes with direct access to faculty and hands-on projects. Faculty and staff support our students from application to graduation. As an intimate community in a large university, we’re proud to offer our students the best of both worlds.
