NC State and the Center for Geospatial Analytics were well-represented at the recent NCGIS Conference 2015 held at the Raleigh Convention Center.  Center students, faculty and associates participated in the conference, including this core group that setup and ran the Center’s impressive booth and demonstrations.

PhD students Anna Petrasova and Vashek Petras demonstrated the Tangible Landscape and Immersive Visualization environments at the CGA booth.

Dr. Helena Mitasova delivered a very popular talk on “GRASS7: New Features and Tools for Spatio-Temporal Analytics and Visualization.”

Michelle Glatz, Makiko Shukunobe and Dr. Laura Tateosian received an Honorable Mention award for their digital poster entitled “GazeGIS: From Your Eyes to Our Map.”  Their research involves two applications: (i) Geoparsing – extracting geospatial information from unstructured text dynamically and map such locations on the map; and (ii) Gaze Tracking – receiving real time screen location of focal points using an eye tracker API to trigger multiple events such as highlighting viewed location name in the text and then displaying images representing such location. Congratulations to Michelle, Makiko and Laura!
