Center Graduate Students Inducted into Forestry Honor Society

The Memorial Belltower at North Carolina State University on a spring day

Four students from the Center for Geospatial Analytics were recently inducted into Xi Sigma Pi, the Forestry Honor Society, during the local chapter’s 77th annual banquet held at the NC State University Club on April 4.

Honorees affiliated with the center were MGIST student Jeffrey Adamchack, Ph.D. student Laura Belica, incoming MGIST student Tyler Hays, and M.S. student Ashley Newby. Both Laura and Ashley are advised by Stacy Nelson, an associate professor in the department of Forestry and Environmental Resources and a faculty fellow at the center. Their committees also include center associate directors Helena Mitasova and Raju Vatsavai, center teaching associate professor Jim McCarter, and center research associate Bill Slocumb.

Xi Sigma Pi was founded at the University of Washington in 1908, and NC State’s department of Forestry and Environmental Resources formed the 12th chapter in 1940; student membership is by invitation.

Congratulations to all of the inductees on this honor!
