Technology (MGIST).<br><br>The <a href=\"https:\/\/cnr.ncsu.edu\/geospatial\/academics\/phd\"><strong>Ph.D. program<\/strong><\/a> unites expertise from across NC State&nbsp;University to offer an interdisciplinary curriculum and experiential learning tailored to each student. The program is designed for students who wish to establish themselves in GIS practice and build essential skills,&nbsp;without&nbsp;committing&nbsp;to a full graduate program. The minor provides students the opportunity to develop a recognized academic credential in conjunction with their major field of graduate study. Admissions to these minors\u00a0requires\u00a0adding an approved graduate GIST faculty member to your graduate committee and officially adding the minor using your <a href=\"https:\/\/grad.ncsu.edu\/students\/degree-planning\/graduate-planner-tool\/\">Graduate Planner<\/a> in MyPack Portal. Students may email the Director of Education, <a href=\"https:\/\/cnr.ncsu.edu\/geospatial\/directory\/eric-money\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dr. Eric Money<\/a>, for a current list of approved GIST faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students enrolled in Option B programs cannot declare a formal minor. Students also pursuing a Graduate Certificate in GIS cannot double count minor and certificate coursework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We encourage students to review the <a href=\"https:\/\/webappprd.acs.ncsu.edu\/php\/coursecat\/directory.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">course catalog<\/a> for up-to-date course descriptions and current semester offerings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Minor in Geographic Information Systems<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To receive the minor, master&#8217;s students must complete 9 credit hours (including 6 elective credits), and doctoral students must complete 12 credit hours (including 9 elective credits).
