A <a href=\"https:\/\/mybinder.org\/v2\/gh\/ncsu-landscape-dynamics\/futures-model-intro-notebook\/master?urlpath=lab\/tree\/futures_triangle.ipynb\">new tutorial<\/a> also allows new users to quickly try FUTURES online in Jupyter Notebook before installing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cnr.ncsu.edu\/geospatial\/research\/futures\/\">FUTURES<\/a> stands for the <b>FUT<\/b>ure <b>U<\/b>rban-<b>R<\/b>egional <b>E<\/b>nvironment <b>S<\/b>imulation and was designed specifically to predict the environmental impacts of urbanization at a regional scale; it is one of the few land change models developed to explicitly capture the spatial structure of development.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FUTURES is powered by GRASS GIS and can be run on Linux, Windows and Mac OS.
