The Environmental Programs in the Regional Planning Department at PTRC educate residents in the Piedmont Triad about pollution prevention and the importance of clean water and clean air. The Environmental Programs Assistant provides the administrative support that makes these programs possible. You are the right person for this job if you have exceptional organizational skills and are a motivated self-starter. Performing a variety of administrative and logistical support duties for the Environmental Programs Coordinator is a priority for the person in this position. Some tasks require strategic thinking and creative problem-solving, while other job duties require a methodical and systematic approach. The Environmental Program Assistant has the option to work up to 24 hours per week and the schedule is negotiable. The option to telework is provided for candidates who demonstrate the ability to work independently and meet project deadlines during a probationary period, with the understanding that some tasks (printing, mailing, etc.) require working onsite in a professional office environment.
Typical assignments for the Environmental Programs Assistant include researching and compiling information from online sources, reorganizing files and folders on the program's OneDrive, monitoring inventory, improving existing spreadsheets and creating new databases, updating the program's web pages, printing and assembling program materials, and tracking registration for upcoming programs. Additional opportunities to assist with grant proposal writing and to represent the Environmental Programs at community events may be available depending on the skills the successful candidate brings to the role.
If you are selected to fill the role of Environmental Programs Assistant, you will need to present a valid North Carolina Driver's License, pass the pre-employment drug screen and background screening process. Minimal state and national travel may be necessary.
All of our PTRC staff is required to complete a six-month probationary employment period.
