Domtar is seeking upcoming college seniors with a focus in Paper Science, Chemical, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering interested in growth development and sophisticated project assignments to join our team in 2020!


As an Associate Engineer, you will be part of a team that shapes the future of innovation in the Pulp and Paper industry. Our Associate Engineers enter the workforce and immediately begin to impact the organization by helping us bring world-class innovation to market and design our next generation of amazing products that people touch every day.


You’ll become fully integrated into one of our nine U.S. mills, working directly with executives and management with an assigned mentor to maximize your growth and development. During this time, associates will receive a comprehensive orientation to Domtar, full exposure to the mill, and work closely with operations and engineering in various functional units within the facility on project intake, scope, design, documentation, and rollouts. We have 18 – 24 month rotational programs set-up at each mill, providing associate engineers the opportunity to rotate throughout the pulp, paper and power sectors.

Domtar is committed to hiring long term engineers with mobility to grow and develop within our mill system; we offer competitive starting salaries with an 8% target bonus for all entry level positions. For Chemical or Paper Science majors, Domtar’s starting salary is at $71,000.


Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):


·         Lead a mill trial to include: writing the trial plan, project coordination, data analysis, documentation of findings, recapping results to managements and providing innovative and cost effective solutions.


·         Lead engineering, construction and/or maintenance projects.


·         Manage a mills area crew.


·         Participation in capital funds, engineering, maintenance, and safety investigations project teams.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be a senior enrolled in an accredited degree program. Desired majors include Paper Science, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, and Process Engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Technical writing and presentation skills.
• CAD experience preferred but not required.
• Up to 10% travel to U.S. mills based on project requirements.

• Interest in the pulp and paper industry and building a developmental career with unlimited learning opportunities.
• Ability to comply with and enforce company, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
