General Purpose and Scope of Position:


The role will be responsible for the facility oversight and all manufacturing aspects of multiple locations, including Facilities Management, Project Management, Facility Operation, Logistics, Food Safety, Quality, Regulatory Compliance, Environmental Health, Safety, and Security, Indirect Spend and Business Process and Transaction Support. Will oversee warehouse, inventory control, material handling, customer service, transportation, and planning. Responsible to ensure the efficient and safe operation while also ensuring compliance with all regulatory, quality, safety, operations, and financial/accounting standards and policies. To succeed in this role, the holder must have a thorough knowledge of feed manufacturing operations and a clear understanding of elevating the interactions between manufacturing and other areas of the overall business including customer interactions. Must have and hands-on can-do attitude to lead by example as much as thru coaching.


As a member of the Operations Leadership team, you will be responsible for the development and execution of the strategic plan for the operations components of an animal feed nutrition company that supports the overall business strategy. This role oversees all internal operational functions ensuring all processes are efficient and effective in the use of resources to meet customer and business requirements. Responsibilities include formulating policies, managing daily operations, and planning the use of materials and managing/training. Responsible and authority for ensuring food safety, quality, and regulatory. Oversight and maintenance of personnel issues and records.  Fully responsible for all operational activities.

Qualifications
Key Skills and Abilities Include:

5-10 years’ experience in management in a feed mill/manufacturing setting
Strong technical knowledge of feed manufacturing and feed production practices; extruded feed (aqua and/or pet) manufacturing experience will be a strong differentiator
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant industry-related field (can be supplemented with significant experience)
Ability to efficiently manage multiple operations across a wide geographic footprint. Experience in designing and managing optimally a network of facilities is desired
Experience in all aspects of logistics operations with an eye for efficient processes, logistics method and an understanding of industry best practices
Demonstrated capacity to manage projects, facilitate training, process development, and problem solve in a decentralized work environment
Experience in successfully implementing cost savings activities and programs
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional departments using strong communication skills to drive buy-in and performance objectives
Ability to lead the team to find solutions and the ability to assess the impact of change and manage it
Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced and changing work environment
Demonstrated understanding of the location’s financial performance and capability to develop a vision and supporting strategies and to translate these into operational initiatives
Deep understanding of customer and a solid commercial understanding and ability to help grow the business

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:

Direct and coordinate activities of managers or departments concerned with the production, purchase, distribution of products, food safety, and customer service
Ensure the absolute best quality under requirements for the product manufactured as the customer evaluates it
Assure and enforce compliance with all Food Safety Guidelines, FDA and OSHA guidelines, as well as Federal and State laws governing the workplace. Support development, implementation, maintenance and on-going improvement of SQF Systems
Establish administrative controls and metrics to evaluate and maintain performance objectives. Determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement
Operating Expense Management, to include the establishment of operating budgets, cost control and asset optimization, price negotiation and vendor management
Providing guidance and oversight in preparation of project understandings, schedules, budgets, fee proposals and negotiations
Prepare annual expense and capital budget for all operational and administrative activities
Champion engagement among his team: mentoring, developing, and coaching team including designing and/or promoting established programs to achieve objectives in this area
Asset Management, including purchasing and leasing of vehicles and CapEx strategic deployment pertaining to the transportation and logistics areas
Identify, Develop, Implement and Maintain Operating Procedures that drive efficient utilization of company assets
Oversee all infrastructure for the location as they related to operations, such as offices, warehouses, rail sidings, and land lots. Monitor the facility to ensure that it remains safe, secure, and well maintained
Oversee the use and operation of all rolling stock, including DOT requirements and compliance management
Determine staffing requirements, interview, hire and assure appropriate training of new employees and oversee all other personnel processes
Representing the business with key customers and suppliers as necessary
Other duties customary of such a position and other responsibilities as assigned
