Pond Construction Technician/Excavator Operator


The role of Technician is critical to the success of Dragonfly Pond Works because of its core purpose: to ensure that projects are executed following the highest standard of quality.


Role and Responsibilities for Pond Construction Technician


This physically demanding position works under the direct supervision of the Crew Leader and reports to the Regional Manager at the corporate headquarters in Raleigh. It is a field-based position that is an integral component of the smooth and profitable execution of work. While each project is different, the Technician’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:


Completing necessary repairs on a variety of ponds, lakes, and other stormwater control measures. These activities include:



  • grading,

  • erosion repair,

  • mowing,

  • invasive plant treatment or removal,

  • installing beneficial plants, and

  • turf establishment.


Operating tools and equipment safely and efficiently including but not limited to:



  • mini-excavator,

  • dump truck w/ trailer,

  • tractor,

  • skid steer,

  • chainsaw,

  • string timmer,

  • UTV,

  • jon boat,

  • backpack sprayer,

  • kayak, and

  • hand tools.


Communicating effectively with other crew members and Regional Manager to clarify project scope as needed and to avoid return visits to project sites.


Completing and submitting thorough Project Completion Reports.


Inspecting and maintaining vehicles and equipment to ensure all are in safe and working condition at all times.


Underpinnings of Success for Pond Construction Technician 
Background and experience in lake/pond maintenance, grading, erosion control, landscaping, commercial mowing, turf management, pesticide application.


Completes services on accounts in a professional manner


Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems on the job site


Ability to regularly work on slopes, around water, and in variable weather conditions


Executes tasks with close attention to detail and to timely completion of jobs


Ensures implementation of Dragonfly’s equipment and vehicle maintenance program


Systems-oriented


Understands and follows all company safety policies


Results-driven


Collaborative team spirit – works well as part of a team


Desire for physically demanding work (must be able to lift 80 lbs)


Ability to swim

Qualifications
Love of the outdoors, love of physically demanding work. Previous mini excavator operation desired but not required.

$15 - $22/hour depending on experience
