We are seeking candidates for a Facilities/Habitat Manager and Apprentice Dog Trainer
at our location in Hillsborough, NC. Our property consists of 260 acres of managed
timber and wildlife habitat with 12 unique water sources. In addition, there are 3
physical structures on the property consisting of our 4,000s.f. dog kennel, a 1,200s.f.
Manager’s home and a 1,300s.f. Lodge. Our facilities support our dog training and
breeding activities and some hunting and fishing.
Primary responsibility will be to manage the property and facilities with a secondary
focus on learning to train gundogs (waterfowl and upland), adventure dogs (active
companions) and therapy dogs using the Wildrose Way training methodology – a
positive reinforcement training model.
Candidates should be motivated, service oriented, client focused, responsible and
willing to work hard to perform the daily, weekly and monthly tasks necessary to provide
our clients with the high level of service we provide.
Qualifications:
Forestry or Wildlife Science degree and/or experience preferred
Habitat management experience
Knowledge of equipment from small tools to larger equipment
Knowledge of crops and other habitat species and use
Organization skills and systems
Proficient in Microsoft Suite of products
Good writing skills
Positive/can-do attitude

Sample of duties:
Admin:
o Maintain records
o Ordering supplies to include chemicals, fertilizers, seeds
Property management:
o Maintain clean kennel
o Maintain clean shop area for ease of access to tools and implements
o Equipment maintenance and scheduling
o Road maintenance – grading/drainage, etc.
o Maintain clean appearance around facilities to include:
Mowing/weed-eating/spraying
Power washing of equipment and building as needed
Proper drainage
o Maintain all training areas to include:
Mowing fields
Debris/rock removal
Cultivation of crops seasonally
Manage water levels and erosion around water sources
o Manage wildlife habitat
Wildlife Feeders
Maintain cameras
Feeding of wildlife as needed
o Dog Training
Work daily with owners, as well as other trainers, to develop skills
to train dogs through obedience to advanced gundog skills
This is a full-time opportunity and candidate will be provided on-site housing.
The opportunity to become a full-time trainer exists, depending on interest and
competency of the candidate, during apprenticeship.
Compensation will be based on experience and competitive with market standard for
position. Expected to be in range of $25,000 - $35,000 annually, plus housing.
