Firstly, to transfer our proprietary process technologies from our R&D biomass fractionating and fermentation laboratories to large scale demonstration facilities (in-progress) and commercial facilities and/or licensees (planned). Secondly, to develop technology and evaluate (Techno-Economic Analysis -TEA) current and future technologies that provide step changes in value, be it economics, performance or product quality. As we move further on the commercialization path, this will further expand significantly to include commercial technical support, license delivery, technology development of pipeline products, etc.

This specific internship role will interface and have interactions with multiple teams within Arbiom including R&D, and Business Development. These teams reside across offices in both Durham,US and Paris,FR.

In this context, the candidate will bridge across departments at Arbiom and develop the techno-economic analysis of the process under development. This key activity, as the interface between R&D, BD and ENG, is crucial to validate the concepts explored in our R&D facility. The work will consist in:

1.      Participate actively in modeling and techno-economic analysis using Arbiom’s in-house proprietary tool (mass and energy balance). Maintain and perform regular updates to the TEA (Techno-Economic Assessment model).

2.      Participate actively in trials with equipment suppliers to consolidate the inputs to the TEA.

3.      Compile information on CapEx and improve the existing database.

4.      Team member for FEL2 level update of Arbiom’s SylPro® technology platform, working with internal teams to deliver the Technology Package including Block Flow Diagram, Process Flow Diagrams, high level process descriptions, equipment list, primary equipment specifications, Request for Quotes, and related engineering documents.

Also, other side activities can be foreseen such as participation in biomass fractionation & fermentation runs with ARBIOM’s partners.
