Description

This position is responsible for R&D of new products and modifications of existing products for the purpose of growing HarperLove’s market position.  This position also plays a key role in determining products and dosage recommendations for difficult to bond papers.  Additionally, this position can be utilized to provide assistance to the QC department with regards to wet/dry product and raw material analysis.


Product Development:


Responsible for the development of new products.
Responsible for recommending changes to existing products to enhance their effectiveness, to reduce cost, and to find suitable raw material substitutions when needed.
Documenting work done throughout the development process and reporting on findings.
 


Paper Analysis:


Determine through coordination with board lab analysis and general R&D, suitable methods of bonding various difficult to bond papers in the interest of achieving customer driven performance numbers.
Reporting the findings to the Operations Manager and/or other interested parties as directed.
 


QC Assistance:


Provides assistance to the QC department in the form of performing QC analysis of raw materials and finished products as needed.  This is for both dry and wet products.
Provides recommendations for blend off amounts of raw materials and/or finished products when old or out of spec material needs to be consumed.  This generally will involve time studies of the blend off material in varying quantities within our selected finished products to ensure that the blend off material will have no adverse effect on our finished products.
Provides recommendations and develops QC techniques as well as provides written procedures for the execution of such techniques.


Qualifications
Minimum BS in Chemistry
Experience in a wet chemical laboratory, preferably in the analysis of textile or paper chemical products helpful but not required
Needs to have a thorough understanding of adhesives, polymers, and resins.
Experience in the corrugated box industry helpful but not required.
Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, willingness to learn the adhesive business.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
The ability to provide well written and easy to understand reports.
Salary
$100,000 + (range depends on level of experience)
