The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder is encouraging applications for a CLEAN Program and Communication Coordinator within our Education & Outreach Program. We are seeking a motivated, experienced individual to manage the climate education efforts of this national climate education project (CLEAN). This CLEAN Program and Communication Coordinator will work with the CLEAN program manager and team to develop, support, and coordinate climate education resources and initiatives as well as broaden the reach of CLEAN through effective communication, and partnership building with education and community engagement organizations and CLEAN partners. The candidate will manage the resource review process, professional development opportunities, and marketing/communication strategies. The candidate will help with logistical and administrative support as well as management of website content and updates. The ability to collaborate with scientists, educators, students, and other partners is essential to this role. A self-motivated individual interested in a diversity of work and excited to be part of a climate education program who brings work experience in an educational setting will be our ideal candidate.

CIRES Education & Outreach is a team of 17 outreach, education, and evaluation professionals. CIRES E&O is a well-known and trusted partner for connecting CIRES science with educators, learners, and communities. What Your Key Responsibilities Will BeWhat Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Provide program support and leadership in a climate education program (CLEAN). This includes but is not limited to


CLEAN project work


Review and catalog educational resources around climate and energy topics.
Maintain integrity and quality of CLEAN collection of educational resources.
Solicit expert science reviews for CLEAN educational resources.
Manage the CLEAN review process and curation of materials.
Support educators in the use of CLEAN-selected educational resources and background materials through in-person or virtual teacher professional development.
Support and coordinate climate education initiatives across the country.
Climate Education Communication


Maintain professional development calendar and social media for NOAA’s climate.gov/teaching portal and CLEAN website.
Market the CLEAN program to educators through social media posts, mailings, and through the development of partnerships with educational leaders across the country.
Reach diverse audiences through targeted marketing strategies.
Climate Literacy Network Support


Support CLEAN Leadership Board implementation of critical initiatives.
Coordinate the Leadership Board and steering committee.
Maintain relationships with and recruit new CLEAN partner organizations.
Coordinate CLEAN Network calls.
Additional tasks include:


Presentation of program results at national and international conferences.
Publication of program results in peer-reviewed journals and whitepapers.
Develop project reports for funding agency.
Work with administrative staff on budget and finance topics.
Build education and outreach partnerships.
What We Can OfferWhat We Can Offer
CIRES can offer a generous compensation package.
The annual hiring salary range for this position is $50,000 - $65,000. Salary is commensurate with education and experience and determined based on our CIRES internal career track classification.
Modest relocation funds are available for this position following CIRES's and the University of Colorado’s relocation processes and procedures.

What We RequireWhat We Require
Bachelor’s degree.
Work experience in an educational setting focused on climate or sustainability.
Experience working across teams supporting a variety of partners (e.g., educators, scientists, policymakers, and community partners).
Experience in program management for a minimum of two years.
Excellent writing, communication, and time management skills.
Experience in maintaining a web presence.
