Title
Toxic Free Future Campaign Intern (UNPAID)
Organization
Toxic Free NC
Description

This fall, we’re launching a campaign to convince key members of Congress to co-sponsor bills banning PFAS in food packaging and convincing Burger King to phase out PFAS from its packaging. PFAS, or poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances, have become notorious drinking water contaminants as a result of industrial releases and use of firefighting foam. But they are used in a wide range of products, from food packaging to stain-resistant furniture, and our exposure comes from multiple sources and routes. With their remarkable persistence and mobility—they are not known to break down in the environment and they move through soil to drinking water—PFAS have become global pollutants that threaten the health of people and wildlife.

We are currently seeking interns interested in protecting the health of people and the environment right here in Raleigh, NC! This position begins immediately and will typically require 5-10 hours per week for 11 weeks. Current student standing is not necessary. Flexible scheduling is allowed.
