WSP is currently searching for a Part-Time or Full-Time Assistant Water Resources Engineer for our Raleigh, NC office. The Assistant Water Resources Engineer will perform civil design tasks for stormwater conveyance systems, major hydraulic structures, stormwater control measures, green stormwater infrastructure, and environmental projects in North Carolina and other states in the southeast.
This candidate will utilize their professional experience and technical knowledge of civil engineering and hydrology and hydraulics to support water resource projects including stormwater and drainage design, floodplain management and flood control, water/wastewater, site civil and utility design, ecosystem restoration, and resiliency planning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform technical tasks under general supervision of senior-level engineers on a diverse project workload, including storm water analysis, highway drainage, flood hazard assessment, stream hydraulic evaluation and storm water conveyance
Assist in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings
Perform engineering investigation and planning work on water resource-related tasks
Assist with the development of engineering studies and documents
Perform engineering calculations and design under the supervision of senior-level engineers

-Bachelor of Science in Agricultural/Civil/Environmental Engineering
0-1 years of experience
-Understanding and experience with hydrologic and hydraulic design calculations
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Experience working on multiple tasks/projects in a team environment
-Authorization to immediately work in the United States
-Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
-Ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications:
-EIT Certification (or currently qualified for the next EIT exam) is desirable
-Understanding and experience of CADD, including Microstation and AutoCAD, along with associated design software
-Prior experience in an engineering design environment through internships or cooperative education programs
