Description

New Product Development Engineer conducts fundamental or applied research to generate new products. In so doing, development of new process methods, equipment, and measurements systems may be required. The responsibility emphasis will be on applied research to support organic sales growth in partnership with the sales group. The Engineer will have the ability to create and follow his/her product from conception through manufacturing industrialization.





Plan, design, and conduct research projects according to established scientific methods.
Investigate, develop and maintain technical expertise on advances and innovations
Activities may include devising research methods; setting-up laboratory test equipment; building models and prototypes; calculating and analyzing test results and preparing detailed reports with recommendations and conclusions.
Generate new or improved products, components, equipment, systems, and processes.
Prepare specifications, technical documentation, and test forms in support of product prototypes and finished product realization.
Track projects through a Stage Gate process.
The Engineer will have primary responsibility for his/her new products from conception and cost estimation, through manufacturing trials, and the end of industrialization.
Coordinate and collaborate with Plant Operations, Quality, Process Engineering, and fellow Development Engineers.
Collaborate with Sales Team when pursuing new opportunities. This may include direct and indirect customer communication.

Qualifications
• B.S. Degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Chemistry or similar technical field
• Experience in rubber compounding, calendering, and vulcanizing preferred
• Experience in rubber analytical test methods preferred
• Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Analysis and 5S are a plus
• Excellent technical writing & oral communication skills
• Knowledge of (REACH / RoHS, Global Harmonization) regulations preferred
