The position will include the following knowledge and skills:
• Familiarity with National Environmental Policy Act and North Carolina Environmental Policy Act (NEPA-SEPA) procedures.
• Ability to prepare environmental documents and technical studies per NEPA/SEPA guidelines for state and federal agencies.
• Familiarity with travel demand modeling principles including socio-economic and land use forecasting.
• Experience with ArcGIS is a plus- preparing maps, conducting spatial and temporal data analysis including data collection, management and visual information systems.
• Familiarity with demographic data sources including census files, American Community Survey data, etc.
• Familiarity with community impact assessment principles including social and economic analysis.
• Assist with public involvement activities (meetings, mailings, media announcements, graphics, website management, etc.) and ensure compliance with agency public involvement requirements.
• Familiarity with natural systems surveys and impact assessment (i.e. 401/404 permitting, wetland delineations, natural resource surveys, etc.)
• Strong capability in the use of computer applications including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to follow direction and work in a team environment
• Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prepare technical reports
• Motivated to learn and think critically
• Reliability and dependability
