Description

Lab Coordinator needed to assist with data managment, spatial data analysis, and research support for two dynamic research groups whose focus includes spatial ecology and the conservation and management of species and ecosystems (both aquatic and terrestrial). A major near-term project will involve building a geospatial database for wetland and stream mitigation sites and associated attributes (e.g., water quality, riparian condition, watershed characteristics). However, the Lab Coordinator will ultimately assist with a variety of research projects (esp. managment and manipulation of spatial data layers and species datasets from many areas around the world) and general lab managment (incl. web site managment, project managment, student assistance, field assistance, etc.). Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline (e.g., ecology, natural resource managment, geography, etc.). Must be proficient in one or more of the following computational methods: geospatial analysis using ArcGIS, R, and/or related software; database management; web mapping services; data manipulation, graphing, and/or statistical analysis using R. Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; an ability to review financial reports; an ability to maintain confidentiality; and an ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Must be detail-oriented, willing to take responsibility for diverse administrative details, willing to adapt to changing job responsibilities as project/lab needs change over time, and willing to assist with occasional field work.


Preferred: MS degree in relevant discipline. Advanced experience in multiple areas listed above. Field experience with a variety of sampling methods in aquatic and/or terrestrial environments.
